Holocaust survivor

One of the youngest known survivors of Dr. Josef Mengele’s infamous experiments on identical twins during the Holocaust will be coming to Chabad of the Tri-Valley in Pleasanton next week to discuss her life and the award-winning documentary she directed.

Sora Vigorito, who was among 89 pairs of identical twins who went through the so-called Angel of Death’s laboratory, will be speaking during the event scheduled for Monday (Sept. 8). The event will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Library book sale

The Friends of the Pleasanton Library is hosting a book and media sale at the city’s library over the span of several days next week to help raise money for library programs and special needs.

The nonprofit hosts book sales twice a year to support the library — each sale raises almost $15,000, according to the organization. The sale begins on Thursday (Sept. 11) and will last until that Sunday (Sept. 14). Library members will be offered early access from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday and the greater public will be invited from 2-7 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday, the sale is open to all from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday, the sale will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Witches Night Out

Tickets are now on sale for this year’s Witches Night Out event, taking place on Oct. 1 in downtown Livermore.

According to Livermore Downtown Inc., the event will feature the new Bewitching Alley Bazaar pop-up marketplace, a costume contest and a virtual witches hat contest.

CSUEB orchestra

String musicians of all genres are invited to sign up for the California State University, East Bay Chamber Orchestra, which meets every Wednesday from 7-8:50 p.m.

The ensemble is structured to welcome adults with any musical background. The group focuses on learning and playing different styles of music, including classical, movie music, video game music, pop and rock.
