Driver airlifted to hospital after crashing into San Ramon house

Authorities were continuing an investigation Tuesday into a dramatic scene in San Ramon the previous night in which a vehicle struck a home near Monte Video Elementary School and caught fire, resulting in the driver being airlifted for burn treatment.

Officers with the San Ramon Police Department joined San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District first-responders to the site of the collision on Foxboro Circle at approximately 9:09 p.m. Monday.

The preliminary investigation suggests the driver suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, according to police.

The driver was transported by helicopter to UC Davis Medical Center after the scene unfolded. One of the vehicle’s two passengers sustained minor injuries that were treated on the scene, according to police. The second passenger was uninjured, as were the home’s occupants. No further injuries were reported.

SRPD was continuing to investigate the crash as of Tuesday.
