Election is here

Early voting is underway in Pleasanton ahead of Election Day on Tuesday.

Residents can vote in person or drop off their ballots between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. through Monday at voting centers located at the Pleasanton Unified School District offices on West Las Positas; Valley View Elementary School; Pleasanton Middle School; Harvest Park Middle School; and Alisal Elementary School.

The centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 3. There are also three 24-hour ballot drop boxes located at Pleasanton City Hall, the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center and Ken Mercer Sports Park.

The races on the ballot for residents include Pleasanton mayor, District 1 and District 3 City Council seats and the Area 5 seat on the PUSD board.

Foothill project

Foothill High School students and staff recently signed their names on the last steel beams that were installed as part of the school’s new performing arts and athletic facilities, a $79.8 million project that is funded by the $395 million Measure I bond that voters approved in 2022.

According to a recent E-Connect newsletter from Pleasanton Unified School District, this marked a notable milestone for the project as construction workers are now done with the building’s structural steel framework.

Construction workers will now work on the decking, walls and other essential building systems. According to the district, the next major milestone will be the installation of a new roof on the existing gymnasium. The overall project is still expected to be completed at the end of 2027.

Holiday parade

Pleasanton’s Hometown Holiday Celebration is set to return to downtown on Dec. 5.

The festivities start at 5 p.m. with the popular holiday parade, followed by the ceremonial community tree lighting.

Registration is now open for the parade, and volunteers are needed to help during the event. The city is also accepting audition videos for the parade announcer.

“Whether you want to be in the parade, volunteer, sponsor or be the voice that announces the floats and bands, we’d love to have you be part of the celebration,” Pleasanton recreation supervisor Tracy Newman said in a statement.
