Tri-Valley shoppers now have another nearby option to purchase vegetables, snacks and other food items at the new Grocery Outlet in Dublin.

The store — located at 7991 Amador Valley Blvd. — held its official grand opening event and ribbon-cutting on April 4 to welcome Dublin city leaders and community members. City Councilmembers Jean Josey and Sherry Hu and Mayor Melissa Hernandez were among those in attendance.

One notable detail about the Grocery Outlet location is its local and independent ownership. The store is operated by Harjinder and Sukhi Bhatti, a brother and sister team.

In a statement online, the owners expressed gratitude and shared their hopes for the new store.

“We look forward to making a difference in our Dublin community and wow-ing customers with the amazing deals we have on everyday items at affordable prices,” the Bhattis said.

The siblings have a personal connection to the area, having migrated from Punjab, India, and settling in Dublin over 40 years ago. Now, they’re eager to give back to the community that helped shape their lives.

“We plan to jump right into the local community and reconnect with our roots,” the Bhattis said. “We are already members of Dublin’s Chamber of Commerce and plan on being involved and supporting local events and organizations like Open Heart Kitchen and Children’s Emergency Food Bank Drive.”

The Bhatti siblings shared how the store’s opening is a “full circle” moment as Sukhi’s first job was at Round Table Pizza, located in the same parking lot as the new store.

Harjinder retains over 30 years of retail experience, including 19 years at IKEA.

“We have found our passion of serving the community through Grocery Outlet and are so excited to be back in Dublin, our home where it all began,” the pair added.

Situated in the space once occupied by the former Big Lots! retail store, the new Grocery Outlet seeks to fill the void left by its predecessor. The store offers a variety of food and drink products, produce, frozen foods, alcohol, snacks and canned goods.

Store representatives said various staff positions are still available, including cashiers, merchandise stockers and deli personnel.
