The city of Pleasanton will be hosting an informational community meeting this Thursday at the Pleasanton Public Library to provide residents with practical ways for addressing a ground squirrel problem that many community members have been raising concerns about for months.
Some of the more recent concerns came up during the Pleasanton City Council’s meeting July 27, with a handful of residents who live near the Bernal Community Park in south Pleasanton going over the many different ways the rapidly growing infestation of ground squirrels have affected their neighborhoods.
According to a Sept. 24 press release from the city, the ground squirrel mitigation information session on Thursday (Oct. 1), which is set to begin at 6 p.m., will go over many topics including ground squirrel behavior and why they are attracted to certain areas, prevention and mitigation measures residents can take, and other options they can take to manage the ground squirrels safely and responsibly.
“The information session will provide an opportunity for residents and property owners to learn more about ground squirrel behavior, prevention and mitigation measures, and available options for managing ground squirrels safely and responsibly,” the city stated in its press release.
