Nationwide franchiser Dumont Creamery & Café opened its first East Bay location this month in downtown Livermore.
As a multi-specialty cafe, it sells ice creams of internationally-inspired flavors, coffees, boba, slushies and milkshakes.
The business has roots in Dumont, a leading ice cream maker in India, according to the cafe website.
A grand opening for the business was held Sept. 18, following a ribbon cutting ceremony the previous day. The Livermore business joins Bay Area franchise locations in San Jose and Sunnyvale along with stores across the country.
“What we are trying to achieve here is provide this space for the community, which has something for everybody,” co-owner Ajay Vattipally told Livermore Vine.
Vattipally is a longtime Livermore resident and software engineer.
He said he was drawn to Dumont Creamery & Café because of its products and flavor choices.
During an interview, Vattipally highlighted a few of the globally-inspired ice cream flavors being offered: mint basil sorbet of Italy, Hokey Pokey of New Zealand and Biscoff of Belgium.
The business also served seasonal flavors, he said.
The other co-owners of the location are Rohit Annamreddy and Rajesh Challa.
Vattipally previously served as the co-owner of The Junction Bar & Grill for a period of about three years, beginning 2022. After selling the business, it was renamed to The Rainbow Junction.
The brick-and-mortar in Livermore is located at 2375 Railroad Ave., Suite 101, previously home to bubble tea cafe Teaspoon.
