Dozens of soccer fans boarded an ACE train in Pleasanton Wednesday afternoon, donned in red, white and blue.
The travelers were headed to a FIFA World Cup knock-out match where Team USA is poised to play against Bosnia and Herzegovina at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
Among the fans were Pleasanton brothers Mateo and Adrian Eichler.
“I think we can win, definitely. It would be a shock if we lost,” Mateo Eichler said.
ACE traditionally runs commuter trains five days a week, but the operator San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission began offering special service rides to events post-pandemic, the commission’s public relations manager Ahdel Ahmed told Pleasanton Weekly.
“It’s just convenient,” he said of riding ACE as opposed to taking a car.
Passengers of the special service train July 1 are set to arrive at Levi’s Stadium ahead of the Round of 32 kickoff at 5 p.m.
