The Tri-Valley Sliders baseball club outscored opponents 40-4 and posted a no-hitter en route to taking home the recent 16U November Classic Baseball championship, the regional squad’s fourth tournament win this fall.

“The Sliders had near perfect pitching, explosive hitting and excellent defense,” coach Dave Ott said of his team, comprised of boys from Amador Valley, Foothill, Granada and Livermore high schools.

Pitcher Anthony Steller-Harter threw a no-hitter with eight strikeouts during the Sliders’ second game of the event in Ripon (in San Joaquin County). A.J. Warford and Tim Michael combined for 12 hits and nine RBI, leading the way for the Slider offense — which batted .447 overall during the four-game tourney.

The Sliders opened pool play Nov. 15 with a 9-3 win, with Game 1 starter T.J. Myers striking out 10 batters and yielding one earned run.

Steller-Harter followed with his no-hitter during the Sliders 12-0 victory in the nightcap Nov. 15. The only opposing baserunner reached on a walk.

The Sliders took the Nov. 16 semifinal 9-1 behind a strong outing by starting pitcher Blake Staniford. They dominated the championship game 10-0, with Joshua Ott pitching a one-hitter.

Stars at the plate included Warford, who had three triples, four runs scored and six RBI. Michael added three RBI and five runs scored.

Steller-Harter posted five hits and five RBI, Griffin Chin had four hits and five RBI, Ethan Sabal had two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI, and Joshua Ott scored five times and had four hits, including a triple.

It was the Sliders’ fourth title in the five tournaments they played this fall, Dave Ott said.
