Pleasanton Lacrosse Club and Pleasanton Pride Girls Lacrosse are teaming up this weekend for their inaugural joint New Player Fall Festival at Hart Middle School.

“We had the idea to come together to celebrate the sport and help children gather to learn and give it a try in a safe and fun environment,” said Drew Sanders, president of Pleasanton Lacrosse Club.

The festival, open to boys and girls in first through 10th grades, offers prospective lacrosse players the chance to try their hand at the fast-paced sport.

Club and high school coaches, as well as experienced local players, will be in attendance to help new players learn the fundamentals of lacrosse such as passing, catching, cradling, shooting, ground balls and face-offs.

Sanders said lacrosse is “one of the fastest growing sports in America” and pointed out that more than 1,000 boys and girls are playing registered lacrosse in Pleasanton this year.

The festival runs from 2-5 p.m. this Sunday at Hart, located at 4433 Willow Road.

Registration costs $45 and all participants will receive a lacrosse stick to take home and a discount code for local lacrosse registration next spring.
