Chamber chair Jody Amos — who owns Amos Productions and Altamont Limo — made the announcement to attendees at the chamber’s Chairman’s Circle Reception at Murrieta’s Well on Nov. 16.

“I am so pleased to confirm Sherri to the position of president/CEO. Sherri has been serving as Interim president/CEO for the last 10 months due to a medical leave of absence of Dawn Argula, our former president/CEO,” Amos said.

He continued, “Upon Dawn’s recent resignation, the executive committee diligently researched the options for the chamber and decided that Sherri brings to the chamber her experience as a business owner, volunteer leader, and previous LVCC board member experience and has a long term passion for the work of the Livermore Valley Chamber. Her favorable reputation in the community is an important asset to the chamber and will assist in strengthening Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce moving forward.”

A longtime Livermore resident, Souza’s background includes industrial sales, retail management and, most recently, she served for 20 years as a local realtor and independent broker in Livermore with 15 of those years spent as a volunteer leader in the real estate industry.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to lead the LVCC organization,” Souza said in a statement.

“Its members represent the most respected businesses and organizations in their fields. The business connections and partnerships that have been created by the efforts of the chamber is inspiring and we hope to continue the expansion of this mindset and grow the chamber beyond our wildest dreams. It is an exciting time to be a part of this chamber,” she added.

Souza first took the reins as interim CEO in March following Argula’s leave of absence. Due to health reasons, Argula has now officially stepped down from the role.

Souza told Livermore Vine how Argula left a lasting impact on the chamber during her tenure.

“Dawn was with us for six years and led us through COVID. Her efforts during COVID allowed the chamber to reinvent our role in the community during the pandemic and to continue to provide value to our members and the community, even in difficult times. She was an innovative leader and enjoyed her role with the chamber immensely,” Souza said, adding that the organization plans to celebrate Argula’s retirement in the near future.
