Applications are now being accepted for three vacancies on the Tri-Valley Accessible Advisory Committee, which provides input to the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) Board of Directors on accessibility issues affecting senior and disabled passengers that use the Wheels bus system and Dial-a-Ride paratransit services.

The vacancies include one for the city of Dublin and two for Pleasanton. Committee members are expected to provide a forum and meet six times a year to discuss the usability of LAVTA fixed route buses and Dial-a-Ride paratransit services.

Recent items that members of the committee have reviewed, discussed or advised the LAVTA board on include paratransit operations and maintenance contracts and the Clipper 2.0 card program

Committee members receive a free annual LAVTA fixed route bus pass, and ADA paratransit eligible members can also take Dial-a-Ride service to and from committee meetings for free.

Candidates must live in the city they represent and be able to “solicit and disseminate information effectively to their constituents” as well as meet during regular business hours (typically 3:30-5 p.m.), and “be able to analyze complex issues and reports to make recommendations regarding LAVTA services.”

Applicants must also currently ride either Wheels bus or Dial-A-Ride services, or represent those who do, but do not have to be disabled or over 65 years old.

To request an application, call 455-755 or visit wheelsbus.com. Applications must be submitted by April 26, and will be approved by the LAVTA Board of Directors.
