A team of Foothill High students in the school’s entrepreneur program DECA collectively earned 157 awards at a competition in San Ramon last month.
The annual DECA Northern California Career Development Conference, held Jan. 12-14, saw over 850 students from various schools participate in real-life business scenarios having to do with marketing, management, finance and other business subjects.
Foothill students trained for months to demonstrate their skills through exams, on-the-spot presentations and projects at the competition. Their hard work paid off, as students took home a first-place award, six second-place awards and eight third-place awards.
In a statement, the group called their performance “a great leap for Foothill’s chapter.”
“I have learned the importance of research in the field of marketing and innovation and also the importance of teamwork,” student Sharanya Kumar said. “I’m looking forward to our state conference in March.”
