A big-rig lost control Tuesday afternoon and crashed into a creek near Sunol in Alameda County, the California Highway Patrol said. 

According to CHP-Dublin, just before 2 p.m., a big-rig lost control and veered off the roadway into the creek. The crash resulted in minor injuries and remains under investigation. 

Highway 84, also known as Niles Canyon Road, remained closed into the afternoon commute between Mission Boulevard in Fremont and Main Street in Sunol due to the crash. CHP officials reported the damaged big-rig was finally lifted back up to the roadway and towed away, and then the highway fully reopened by 7 p.m.
