Pleasanton police officers are investigating a violent attack that left two East Bay teenagers wounded at the eaves Pleasanton apartment complex Monday evening.
Both of the victims — a 17-year-old boy from San Ramon and a 16-year-old boy from San Leandro — had been visiting a friend who lives at the apartment complex prior to the attack which, according to Pleasanton Police Department Lt. Brandon Stocking, does not seem to have been random.
“Detectives are still investigating a possible motive, however we do not believe this was a random attack,” Stocking told the Pleasanton Weekly. “It is likely the victims were targeted for reasons still to be determined.”
Police first responded to the incident around 5:44 p.m. on Labor Day (Sept. 7). According to Stocking, PPD received a 911 call from a girl who said her two male friends were attacked at the eaves Pleasanton apartments, located in the 3600 block of Andrews Drive.Â
Stocking said the girl, who lives at the apartments, was with both of the victims when two unidentified assailants approached the group and attacked the two male victims before they fled.Â
The attackers, who wore medical masks during the altercation, were described as two white males with short hair between the ages of 17 and 18 years old.
After the brief fight, Stocking said one of the victims noticed he had “multiple lacerations to his arm, likely caused by a knife or other edged weapon”. However, Stocking said neither one of the victims saw a knife or any other weapon during the altercation.
Upon arriving, officers rendered medical aid to the victims and transported the one with multiple cuts to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. Stocking said he was in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The other victim, Stocking said, sustained minor injuries and did not require medical transportation.
“Detectives and crime scene investigators responded and the investigation continues,” Stocking said. “If you have any information about the incident, please contact the Pleasanton Police Department at (925) 931-5100.”
