Ashley Olson, a graduate of Amador Valley High School who was paralyzed in a car accident in 1998, will show that skydiving is still a thrilling option for those in wheelchairs in a jump this morning with Skydive Monterey Bay.
She will be accompanied by two other paralyzed people, along with a few able body friends.
The event is sponsored by wheelchairtraveling.com, a free resource that helps wheelchair travelers plan trips from booking a hotel to flying on an airplane or jumping out of one. Traveling can be exceptionally empowering for some who is disabled, the organization says.
Olson’s jump is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sunday at Marina Municipal Airport, 721 Neeson Road in Marina, just outside of Monterey. For more information, call 831-384-4383 or log on to wheelchairtraveling.com/
