Community Involvement Fair
The Lynnewood United Methodist Church is having its second annual Community Involvement Fair Sunday, Sept. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the church, 4444 Black Ave., Pleasanton. Twenty community service groups from the East Bay will showcase how someone might get involved with addressing issues like homelessness, housing, youth and child services, infant care, animal rescue, Hurricane Katrina relief, and more. The public is welcome and refreshments will be provided.
New construction management class
The Cal State East Bay SBDC is offering a new course within the Construction Management Program. The five session program is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays Sept. 9, 16, 23, and 30, ending on Oct. 14. Topics covered include: estimating and bidding, project planning and CPM scheduling, construction accounting, project administration and site supervision, using technology to improve management, and CPM scheduling with Microsoft project. There is a $350 registration fee including breakfast and lunch for all classes and the opportunity to purchase business solutions utilized during the program at reduced rates. Shaklee helps earthquake victims
Shaklee Corporation, a Pleasanton-based natural nutrition company, donated nearly $600,000 worth–222,000 servings–of high-protein nutrition drinks to Vitamin Angel Alliance’s Indonesian Earthquake Relief Effort. The aid program will bring emergency nutritional supplies to the villagers in the Johyakarta region, which was devastated by the earthquake in May.
Vineyard roundabout removal completed
Over Labor Day weekend, normal traffic opened on Vineyard Avenue as the roundabout removal was completed. The finished project was a week behind schedule and had an estimated cost of $600,000.
