Tri-Valley CVB Membership Luncheon

The Tri-Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will be hosting its 11th Annual Meeting and Membership Luncheon on Thursday, August 17, at the Bridges Golf Club, 9000 S. Gale Ridge Rd., San Ramon. The CVB will welcome the Tri-Valley’s mayors, business leaders and community representatives among the 150 estimated attendees. Carden West names new principal

Carden West School named Craig Blackburn as its new principal last week. Blackburn graduated from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif., and received a master’s degree in educational administration from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif. He was a teacher and administrator for 17 years in San Ramon and Sunnyvale, Calif., before working as an education consultant with MGT of America. Carden West is a private, nonprofit, nonsectarian elementary school located at 4576 Willow Rd., Pleasanton.

Library wins diversity grant

The Pleasanton Public Library, along with East Bay Marathi Mandal, a nonprofit group that promotes Indian culture, recently won a $25,000 Cultural Crossroads grant from the California State Library under the Library Services and Technology Act. The purpose of the grant is to encourage libraries to partner with community organizations to explore the state’s cultural diversity. Starting in September and running through May, the library will host a variety of events for adults and children aimed at examining the ways the Indian community has enriched Pleasanton.
