Contra Costa County firefighters advised people living on the east side of Mount Diablo to be prepared to evacuate as they fought a 51-acre wildfire Friday afternoon.

The Morgan Fire was located at Marsh Creek Road and Morgan Territory Road, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and Cal Fire.

The fire, which was reported about 3:15 p.m., was spreading with a moderate rate of speed, with 0% containment as of 5:30 p.m., Cal Fire said. No injuries were reported. The cause was under investigation.

County officials urged residents between Morgan Territory State Park and Mount Diablo State Park (also known as zones CCC-249 and CCC-250) to be ready to evacuate if needed. The current evacuation status can be found at https://cwsalerts.com.
