Supporters of nonprofit hospice care in the Tri-Valley are coming together outdoors next month for the annual Hike for Hope at Del Valle Regional Park in Livermore.

Benefiting Hope Hospice, net proceeds from registrations and donations for the May 9 event support the organization’s efforts to care for more than 2,000 local residents each year, regardless of their ability to pay, with end-of-life care for hospice patients and grief support and dementia education programs for caregivers, organizers said.

“More than ever, families are seeking hospice care they can trust that puts people before profit. As an independent nonprofit agency, Hope Hospice’s top priority is care excellence and answering first and foremost to the patients and families we serve,” said Anthony Lupian, senior vice president of By the Bay Health’s South Care region, which includes Hope Hospice.

“Community generosity through events like Hike for Hope helps sustain our mission, so we are grateful to each and every person who shows up for this in support of a great cause,” Lupian added.

One of Hope Hospice’s biggest fundraisers of the year, the Hike for Hope is set to run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 9. Following the scenic hike in the trails and hills around Lake Del Valle, there will be a barbecue and a raffle.

Registrations remain open, with 22 teams and 210 people signed up so far, pushing Hope Hospice nearly a third of the way toward its $150,000 fundraising goal for the 2026 event. For more information, go to TheHikeForHope.com or call 925-829-8770.
