‘Dopamine Nation’ author presentation
Pleasanton’s Alan Hu Foundation is presenting a webinar next month featuring Dr. Anna Lembke, professor of psychiatry and chief of the addiction medicine dual diagnosis clinic at Stanford.
In her lecture, Lembke – author of “Dopamine Nation: Finding Balance in the Age of Indulgence” – will provide “a practical, science-informed approach to addressing compulsive overconsumption of everything from food to sex, to video games,” organizers said.
The free session is set for March 8 from 12-1 p.m. via Zoom.

Hear from Tri-Valley mayors
The Tri-Valley Nonprofit Alliance is gearing up to hold a panel discussion with the area’s five mayors: Karla Brown (Pleasanton), Melissa Hernandez (Dublin), Dave Hudson (San Ramon), John Marchand (Livermore) and Karen Stepper (Danville).
“This year’s conversation will delve into the dynamics of strengthening the connections between cities and local nonprofits in today’s evolving society, aiming to enhance collaboration and mutual understanding,” organizers said.
The program, “In Conversation with Tri-Valley Mayors” at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore on the morning of March 14, will also feature a celebration of TVNPA’s 10th anniversary.

MTC recertification
Federal agencies are in the process of the certification review for the Bay Area’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission, which is done every four years for a metropolitan planning organization serving a transportation management area, officials said.
For residents interested in giving input on MTC’s transportation planning record, there will be a public meeting next Tuesday (Feb. 27) from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Bay Area Metro Center in San Francisco, with a virtual attendance option via Zoom. Learn more at mtc.ca.gov.
‘Spring into Song’
Trinity Lutheran Church on Hopyard Road in Pleasanton is welcoming flutist Robert Cart, accompanied by Miles Graber on piano, next Friday evening (March 1) for the latest installment of the Trinity Concert Series, “Spring into Song”.

“An exhilarating and passionate artist, flutist Robert Cart is an international soloist and chamber musician who has toured throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas,” church reps said. “An advocate for new music, he has premiered more than 50 solo, chamber and orchestral works.”
The concert will feature works by George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, Ned Rorem and recent flute compositions by Trinity Lutheran music minister Dwight Stone.
