One person died and another was injured after two cars collided head-on Tuesday morning on Dublin Boulevard and tumbled onto the shoulder of westbound Interstate 580, authorities said.
Dublin Police Services responded about 8:54 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a crash, with officers determining the impact of the collision had sent both cars off the roadway and onto the freeway shoulder, said Capt. Miguel Campos, the department’s public information officer.
Campos said two people were transported to the hospital, where one later died of their injuries.
The name of the person who died has not been released, and Campos declined to share additional details, including on the circumstances that caused the collision.
The city sent out an email alert about 9:37 a.m. Tuesday informing residents that traffic was closed in both directions in the area and advising them to seek alternate routes. The road reopened about three hours later at 12:20 p.m., according to a city alert.
