All southbound lanes on Interstate 680 through Pleasanton heading toward westbound Interstate 580 have reopened after the California Highway Patrol shut them down Thursday morning due to flooding.

In an X post Thursday morning, CHP showed photos of the highway which was filled with water. CHP stated that crews were on the scene and advised motorists to take either southbound I-580 to Stoneridge Drive or eastbound I-580 to Hopyard Road in order to hop back on the westbound I-580.

As of 11:16 a.m., CHP said the portion of the highway was open but the agency also warned drivers of continued wet conditions the rest of the day.

“More rain to come this afternoon. Please plan ahead and give yourself extra time for your travels,” CHP stated in its post.

According to the National Weather Service, there are currently three hazards in effect for Pleasanton and the surrounding areas: a flood watch, a wind advisory and a flood advisory — all of which went into effect Thursday at 10 a.m. The flood advisory is expected to end the same day while the other two extend through Friday and Saturday.

Rain and a potential thunderstorm is expected in Pleasanton before 3 p.m. Thursday with showers following, according to the NWS.
