Dotson breaks 15-18 Boy’s 50-yard backstroke record

The Pleasanton Valley Swim Club was host to the San Ramon Aqua Bears for the final dual meet of the regular season July 18.

Final score: PVC-1014.50; San Ramon-760.50. One of the many highlights of the meet was when Chris Dotson broke the 15-18 Boy’s 50-yard backstroke record with a time of 27.57. This record was previously held by Coach Jonathan Marshall years ago.

U-12 give valiant effort, but fall to Alliance 3-0

The Rage U-12 White girls gave it their all, but dropped a game against the Sonoma County Alliance, 3-0 Aug. 1 at Val Vista Community Park in their first game together as a new team.

U-12 White drop weekend games to visiting teams

The U-12 White Division 2 girls were defeated by the TFC Fireballs Aug. 1 at Val Vista Community Park by a score of 3-1.

Just before the end of the first half, the score was 2-0. Madison Avery had a beautiful shot on goal it hit the top cross bar and bounced off and outside forward Olivia Christensen kicked it in for the team’s one goal.

Top offensive players: Madison Avery, Olivia Christensen, Nicole Tsuno; Top Defensive Players: Bryanna Schreiber, Megan Martin.

On Aug. 2, the girls went to work against Tualatin Hills United of Oregon, but couldn’t get enough offensive support, dropping the game 5-1. Top Offensive Players: Hanna Mallie, Maggie Kilday; Top defensive players: Christina Echavia, Sadie Moore.

Stingrays dominate at Tri-Valley Swim League championships

More than 1,000 swimmers competed in the Tri-Valley Swim League Championship at the Robert Livermore Pool from teams including the Briar Hill Barracudas, Club Sport Pleasanton Tidal Waves, Del Prado Stingrays, Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center Piranhas, Dublin Green Gators, FAST Dolphins, Pleasanton Meadows Sharks, and the Ruby Hill Killer Whales.

It was a long and exciting day, as the Del Prado Stingrays, emerged victoriously. Several league and team records were broken, along with personal bests from most swimmers.

Final scores: Del Prado Stingrays: 2,579.50; Club Sport Pleasanton: 2,148; DBAC Swim Team: 2,035; Briarhill Swim Team: 1,808; Dublin Green Gators: 1,797; Ruby Hill Swim Team: 1,547; Pleasanton Meadows: 1,337.50; Fast Dolphins: 826.

Foothill senior Dion places third in mountain bike classic

Matt Dion, a USACycling Cat.1 Jr. Expert mountain biker from Pleasanton, placed third overall in the grueling two-day Downieville Classic All Mountain Championship.

This year, more than 800 riders participated in the annual epic event that included riders from all over the world. The two-day race included a 30-mile cross country race with over 4,400 feet of High Sierra climbing and a blistering 5,600-foot descent into Downieville, followed by a second day 17-mile downhill race.

The best combined time on one carefully chosen bike for both events wins the race. Matt will be a senior at Foothill High School and participated in the popular Norcal H.S. mountain biking league, finishing last year’s varsity season in 10th place overall. He is also a nationally ranked rider.
