Foothill High takes on the Granada High Matadors at 7 p.m. tonight at Foothill, a game that follows the Falcon’s 21-14 win over Lincoln High of Stockton a week ago.
The Falcons go into the East Bay league battle with a 3-2 record, while the Matadors hope to advance on their 1-4 season record. Granada lost last Friday to the San Ramon Valley Wolves 19-9 in their league opener.
Although eyed as a “breather” for Foothill after the Falcons lost to California High 31-7 a week earlier, last week’s game saw Lincoln scoring early and leading the Falcons 14-7 going into the third quarter. Then senior quarterback Bryan Kruger nailed a short pass on to Nathan Hinke for a touchdown, tying the score at 14 each.
Senior linebacker Rob Andrews carried the ball for six plays with eight minutes left to play, scoring another touchdown for Foothill and putting the team in front for the 21-14 victory.
That game, played on Thursday at Foothill, launched the school’s homecoming weekend early, with special activities last Friday and then the traditional homecoming dance Saturday night.
