Ballistic United U14 competed at the North Huntington Beach Cup Tournament in Southern California over the Labor Day weekend. The team took first place in the U14 Flight 2.
The BUSC U18 United made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament before being ousted by the RSF Attack. RSF Attack had not yet allowed a goal this tournament. United played them evenly through the first half, led by Jeff Squier’s midfield toughness. The Attack found an opening on the wing and a drop pass to an open midfielder led to a 1-0 lead after 12 minutes. An Attack red card gave United an opening, but they could not exploit this. In the 52nd minute, the Attack scored again on a corner kick for the 2-0 final.
Another BUSC team to move forward after the qualifying rounds were the U16 Class 1 team. They went on to place second in Flight 1 after losing to Merced 3-2.
