Football Place-Kicking Clinic

Summer 2007 Junior Football place-kicking camp will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., July 30 to Aug. 1. The camp is being offered to all children grades 3-9 and the fee is $95.

Steve Jordan, former All-Pac 10 and NFL place-kicker, will host the camp. Coach Jordan is currently the varsity kicking coach at Amador Valley High School.

The camp will teach and instruct the campers on the fundamental concept of kicking a football with accuracy and power. Participants will learn preparation techniques to help build their confidence on the field. They will be taught field goal kicking with an emphasis on accuracy and consistency. They will also learn kickoffs with an emphasis on consistency and distance.

Amador Valley Athletics teams up with TVO

Amador Valley High School recently announced its new partnership with Tri-Valley Orthopedics. The TVO team of doctors and therapists will provide support to athletes, coaches and families.

Diana Hasenphlug will join the TVO team and continue serving as Amador Valley’s athletic trainer.

Important dates for fall athletes include: July 31 and Aug. 1, when all physicals will be held at AVHS in the Q building from 6 to 8 p.m., at a cost of $25. Students must bring their PUSD Health Data Sheet and be accompanied by a parent. Also, at 7 p.m., Aug. 13 AVHS will hold their fall sports meeting in the large gym. All parents of fall sports athletes are required to attend.

Registration packets will be available for pick up from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aug. 7-9 in the school parking lot. Walk-through registration dates and times are 1 to 5 p.m., Aug. 20 for freshman only, 1 to 7 p.m., Aug. 21-22 for sophmores, juniors and seniors, and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Aug. 27 for make up registration.

Pleasanton Meadows defeats Foothill Area Swim Team

Pleasanton Meadows came out on top with a 526.5-420.5 victory over Foothill Area Swim Team July 14. Swimmers from both teams finished with their best individual and relay times, putting them in the top ten ranking in the Tri-Valley Swim League.

Top five individual Pleasanton Meadows swimmers: Isabelle Epley, Tyler Rhoads, Blake Staniford, Colin Burke and Nicolas Tucker. Top ten individual FAST swimmers: Juhee Goyal, Brandon Chen, Spencer Goodwin, Danny Carballo, Paige Heacox, McKenna Moura, Madalyn Warren, Nicholas Tucker, Jeffery Liebman and Michael Udinski.

Four FAST relay teams and three Pleasanton Meadows relay team finished with their best times of the season.
