Amador wrestling takes 8th
The Amador Valley Wrestling team took eight place out of 24 teams at the tough wrestling tourney at Ukiah Saturday. The tourney featured several state place-winners. Brenden Hamilton went 4-1 with two pins to place third. Jake Elkins and Sean McVey went 3-2 to each place fourth. JR Souza and Aaron Diggins each went 3-2 records for fifth place. Tony Davila and Mike Lady placed seventh with 3-1 records. And seven of the 11 wrestlers received place medals.
Neves wins 4th at State
Amador’s Lauren Neves wrestled six matches in total, winning four. The two-day marathon in Hanford, Calif. represents the top tournament in California. Schools from Northern and Southern California were present and all the top wrestlers were present. Coach Anthony Gonzalez helped Neves through the crucible of competition.
Harvest Park wrestles in Modesto
Harvest Park preseason wrestlers traveled to Modesto High School for a Junior High tournament on Sunday. Austin Hamilton placed first at 90 pounds; Austin Bay lost a close match in the finals to finish second; Justin Cruz finished second; and Max Niels, Travis Chubb, and Shelby Luth all finished third at the tourney.
BUSC registration
Walk-through registration for the BUSC 2007 season is happening 7 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 13, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 21 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 3 at the Hart Middle School multi-purpose room. The season begins the weekend after labor day in September and runs for six weeks. Player registration fees are $130 for U5 to U7, $180 for U8 to U9, $190 for U10 to U19, and $50 for top soccer. U8 through U19 players’ fees include a $50 volunteer fee which is refunded after 4 hours of assigned club work. A $50 non-resident fee may also be applied.
