One look at the EBAL Varsity Football standings and you quickly notice the two Pleasanton high schools at the top of the standings. Both Amador Valley and Foothill high schools are off to 3-0 starts this season. Additionally, Amador is currently ranked fourth in the MaxPreps North Coast Section High School Football Rankings with Foothill ranked right behind at fifth. Both teams have a chance to make an even greater impression on the pollsters with their games tonight. Amador hosts the third-ranked Hayward Farmers at 7 p.m. while Foothill plays host to the sixth-ranked Monte Vista Mustangs.
Last week, Amador continued its supremacy over the Irvington Vikings with a dominating 48-13 victory. Irvington, which has not beaten AVHS since 1986, came into the game ranked eighth in the MaxPreps North Coast Section Football Rankings.
Foothill comes into its fourth game after unleashing a 56-7 beating on Skyline High School in their annual meeting. Although the last four or five years the games against Skyline had been fiercely battled, this yearís matchup was in the hands of the Foothill reserves before the end of the first half.

BUSC U17 defeats Patterson 3-2
The Pleasanton Ballistic United Soccer Club U17 Black beat the Patterson Palmeiras 3-2 in a tale of two halves. Early on, the game threatened to be a fast paced, high scoring track meet as Patterson turned a turnover into a quick 1-0 lead 90 seconds into the match. Ballistic answered 2 minutes later on a blast from Brent Cambra after Matt Carlucci had sent him down the left side where Cambra beat two defenders for the goal. Patterson went back ahead midway through the half on a corner kick, but Ballistic answered quickly before the end of the half on two goals from Kiernan McEntee.
The scoreless second half, in which both teams tightened their defense, allowed the U17 team to come away with the victory.
