In AAA action, it was the PFLL A’s vs. the Red Sox. In the first game of the season, great pitching and fielding by both teams ensured a close game. The A’s had an early lead thanks to lead-off hitters Collin Richardson, Ryan Gronlund and Max Sanderson. Aggressive base running by Nick Soldati and Matthew Weir kept the talented infield of the Red Sox on its toes. Wesley Hsu’s pitching in the early innings kept the Red Sox at bay. Following innings saw Kenny Spivey and Mihir Naik on the mound and they were able to hold onto the lead for the rest of the game.ÝAn aggressive rally in the bottom of the sixth by the Red Sox was stopped when A’s catcher Michael Hahn scrambled after a passed ball and threw out an attempted steal at home. Final score was A’s 13, Red Sox 9.
