An earthquake shook the Tri-Valley and much of the Bay Area on Thursday morning.

Hitting at 8:30 a.m. with an epicenter in San Leandro, the temblor had a magnitude of 3.8, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The agency downgraded the size after the preliminary magnitude was reported to be 4.1.
