“Hamrietta” is a 200-pound pig who, according to Pleasanton Police officers, is very sweet and social. The Pleasanton Police Department is seeking the public’s help in reuniting her with her family before she becomes a candidate for adoption.
“As of this morning, no owner has come forward,” PPD Animal Services Officer Frankie Ayers told the Weekly on Wednesday. “The animal shelter will hold her for 30 days for an owner to come forward. Once that elapses, she is eligible for adoption.”
Officers said they first found out about the lost pig — later dubbed by PPD as “Hamrietta” — after receiving a call around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday from a good samaritan who saw the pig roaming near Dublin Canyon Road.

According to Ayers, the officers who responded to the initial call checked with residents in the surrounding area where they found the animal to see if she belonged to any of them. But since they couldn’t identify the owner, “Hamrietta” will be kept at the East County Animal Shelter in Dublin.
“We work with several pig rescues in the area that will likely take her and assist with finding her a forever home,” Ayers said.
Just last year in January, another lost pig was also found roaming the streets of Pleasanton. The small piglet, which was located on Vineyard Avenue, was also taken to the animal shelter in Dublin.
PPD is asking residents who have information about “Hamrietta” to call (925) 803-7040.
