Virtual rodeo parade
Though this year’s Livermore Rodeo has been canceled amid the pandemic, the Rotary Club of Livermore is keeping the spirit alive by presenting a virtual rodeo parade this Saturday (June 12) at 10 a.m.
Billed as “the world’s fastest rodeo parade,” likely in reference to it being an online substitute for the typically in-person procession on Second Street, the 2021 virtual parade can be accessed via link at livermore-rotary.org.
The Livermore Stockmen Rodeo Association expects the annual rodeo (which was also called off in 2020) to return in 2022 from June 11-12.
‘Beyond the Blueprint’
The Alameda County Public Health Department has organized a pair of online public meetings in the days ahead to help residents and businesses prepare for the state easing many pandemic restrictions on Tuesday (June 15), including rescinding its color-tier system for counties dubbed the “Blueprint for a Safer Economy.”
The first “Beyond the Blueprint” session on Zoom, geared toward community members at-large, will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The second meeting, also via Zoom, is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. June 21 for employers and business owners. To learn more, visit covid-19.acgov.org/beyond-the-blueprint.
Race Amity Festival
Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert has organized a Race Amity Festival for this Sunday (June 13) from 1-2 p.m. in outdoor amphitheater at Emerald Glen Park in Dublin.
The event will see supporting organizations such as Dublin Diversity and Inclusion Alliance, Dublin High Black Student Union and Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program “take part to speak about fostering friendship and civility.”
“This Race Amity Festival is about all races, nationalities, and communities coming together to support and appreciate each other,” Haubert said. “Our common goal is to focus deeply on internal culture and to put our efforts and energy in the understanding race for our nation.”
Redistricting basics
Livermore Indivisible is joining partner groups to present California Citizens Redistricting Commissioner Pedro Toledo and others for a virtual session this weekend to speak about redistricting statewide and locally, including in Alameda County, in the wake of the 2020 census.
