An airplane with engine trouble landed on Isabel Avenue and collided with a vehicle, resulting in no injuries but causing a significant road closure early Tuesday evening, according to Livermore police.

The collision occurred when the plane touched down on Isabel Avenue/Highway 84, blocks away from the Livermore Municipal Airport, at 5:10 p.m. Tuesday.

The roadway was closed for 3-1/2 hours between East Airway Boulevard and Portola Avenue for the federal investigation.

  1. Try landing a 737 on Isabelle Ave!!! Still remember when east of the sewage treatment plant was a big open field back in the late 70’s before the commercial buildings went in and every once in a while you would see those small planes coming in short of the runway and land in those fields!!
Allowing those 737’s will only be the beginning!!!

  2. The planes flying over our neighborhoods and local schools from the Livermore Airport are increasing in numbers and added volume of noise pollution. Today’s plane crash near the airport and the recent news of the Boeing 777 airplane dropping parts of it’s engine over the Denver suburbs makes me question the wisdom of the recent proposal to have 737s added to the Livermore airport traffic in Pleasanton, Dublin and Livermore neighborhoods. I will be writing to the City of Livermore’s Community Development Department, the Planning Commission and City Council in Livermore (CityCouncil@CityofLivermore.net) about the Kaiser Air proposal for 737s landing and taking off from Livermore.
