Pleasanton police are investigating a home invasion robbery on Monday afternoon that apparently targeted a winner at a Bay Area casino.
Police received a 911 call at about 12:37 p.m. from a resident of Roselma Place, off upper Bernal Avenue. The woman told police she and her husband had been robbed by gunpoint about five minutes earlier.
The victim said she’d just arrived home and was closing the home’s garage door when she was accosted by three armed men.
“The suspects forced her into the house, where they then confronted her husband as well and demanded ‘the money,'” said Pleasanton police Sgt. Michael Collins in a news release. “The husband complied and gave them the cash out of fear for his and his wife’s safety.”
The money was apparently winnings from gambling at a casino, which stretched from Sunday night into Monday morning. The husband won an unreleased amount of money, took a cab home and fell asleep in a downstairs bedroom, with the cash in a bag beside him.
The robbery took place several hours later.
The three suspects were described as black male adults, 19 to 23 years old, each about 5 feet 8 inches tall, and around 150 pounds. Each was wearing a red hoodie sweatshirt and black pants, and all wore bandanas during the robbery.
The female victim told police the suspects fled on foot from the home and headed toward Bernal Avenue, but she was unsure if a vehicle was involved.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at 931-5100.
Mmm….so the husband came home, feel asleep in a downstairs bedroom, then when the wife arrived home the 3 black guys in red hoodies approached her with guns. I know this court…no one saw these guys hanging in the court for how long?

I agree that the circumstances sound a bit fishy. However, what would be the motive for lying about being robbed?
If the robbery really occurred then one would suspect that casino workers or the cab driver tipped off the robbers. How else would anyone know about the cash winnings and where this couple resided? Who else did this fellow tell that he won a lot of cash?
And yes, three black guys roaming through that neighborhood would draw some attention. If none of the neighbors saw anything, it would suggest no robbery occurred.
Yes, the journalistic text reads fishy. But, the truth is somewhere. As I drove by passing that court on my right, I saw the police, and the dog, but I didn’t see three red-hooded African American men anywhere headed towards the hills or toward the freeway. And, I agree, RED HOODED and/or 3 African American kids running or walking with a bag under their arms on or near a major artery in this part of town would def stick out. Even if no one was on the alert for that, it would get reported to police as suspect because we are pretty paranoid and homogeneous up here. When I called a few nights back 11pmish or so, to report what might be gun shots, the dispatcher said that there were already police investigating because they had reports already. Well, if those common celebratory firecracker *sounds* are getting reported within split seconds, then Red Hooded threesomes in the middle of the afternoon on a major throughway would def get reported. I wonder. On the other hand, anything is possible, and it is often the absurd that is the truth. Glad to know that it was just money and not life that was taken.

A lot of those casinos are overrun by the unions. They act like the Mafia. I expect some union stooge got a pretty pay-off for setting this whole thing up. And since the unions control all our politicians, nothing is going to amount from this. Mark my words. I’ve seen all of this from the yellow window of a passing train.
Hypothetical scenario: If someone did win big at the casino (which reports all big winnings to the IRS) and was then declared that he lost it all in a robbery then he wouldn’t have to pay taxes on the winnings, would he? Again, hypothetical, but I’m sure that the police are looking at this case from all angles.
I definitely smell a rat – not sure what kind, but an obvious one.
Any home invasion here will be met with my .44 cal colt. I’m the kind of guy that refuses to be a victim…by the way…I don’t call 911 either.

Actually, I saw a star on a TV interview about 3 weeks ago, telling how he had won in a casino a sizeable amount, not a million. Whole people all around him at the cage window who could hear. He ask for a ‘check’ and was told no, had to take in cash. He had to give his location, etc. and during that night, he was robbed…because they had heard all the relevant info.
( maybe this guy saw that interview too)
Easily possible that this happened. Anyone who gambles and wins calls attention to themselves. Easy pickings for thieves. I was with my Grandmother in Tahoe a number of years ago, and we were followed out. My Grandmother wins often at the machines, and sure enough that day she won and her purse was yanked from her hands, or attempted, as she hung on for dear life. The guy ran off without her purse, and I’m sure a bit wiser.
It’s a smart thug that waits in the shadows and follows someone home…. These are desperate times people. Wake up and be very careful, even if you are at the ATM machines, because we at times, created “Easy Pickens” for those that would prefer to Steal money than work for it.
You’d think casinos would be set up for and recommend electronic transfer.

These are desperate times indeed. Because of the Obama administration, there are no jobs. The guys who staged this hold-up probably don’t want to work for a living.
Re. you comment about electronic transfer, Mike, you miss the point. You see the unions don’t want that. They hang around the Casinos and wait for a lucky winner, then they steal a car while holding the owner(s) hostage, and then make outrageous demands on the lucky winner. They get this straight out of the Saul Alinsky playbook.
Actually, casinos want the money in your hands. They might get lucky and you lose it on your way to the exit. Every motion, every stop has been analyzed to maximize casino profits. Every new ‘exciting & lucky’ game is to increase casino winnings. But, I can sit and play Blackjack at the table for hours.
I thought this story was a fake when I heard it as well. I just wonder what the police officers think when they are being lied to their faces. It sounds like this person watches too much tv. Who wears red bandanas anymore? Lol

I don’t understand why the local media didn’t release any info on the arrests. This was from Antioch Police yesterday.
I’ve had a few people inquiring about some police activity they saw in Antioch this morning. I’m sure there will be some information presented to the media later, but I wanted to give our Facebook family the scoop first.
Shortly before 6am, Antioch PD officers were involved in a multi-jurisdictional SWAT operation to apprehend a dangerous subject in our city who was wanted in connection with a home-invasion robbery that took place in Pleasanton. Diversionary devices were deployed and the subject was taken into custody. Investigators are still on scene collecting evidence, and the community is just a little bit safer with this bad guy in custody!
This is another example of your police department’s commitment to keeping our community safe. We will continue to take the fight to criminals in our area, letting them know criminal behavior is not welcomed or tolerated.
