Military veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart or have been decorated for valor in Afghanistan or Iraq will be escorted through Pleasanton and Livermore today to the Rao Ranch on Mines Road where they will be treated to a weekend of hunting and fishing.

The Pleasanton Military Families organization is urging the public to assemble along First Street starting at 5:45 p.m. to wave to the veterans as they pass by.

The veterans, riding in a convoy led by the Warriors’ Watch Riders motorcycle contingent, will be escorted by Pleasanton police as they head out from the Mexico Linda Restaurant in Bernal Corporate Park on Bernal Avenue to First Street and then east to Stanley Boulevard where Livermore police will take over.
