“The Amazing Spider-Man” will be shown starting at dusk tonight, Aug. 8, as another in a series of free movies being shown compliments of the city of Pleasanton at Amador Valley Community Park, 4301 Black Ave.

Movies are shown on a giant screen that measures 26 feet diagonally. Seating will be cordoned off in sections with blanket seating in the front, low-back beach chairs in the center, and camp chairs and other higher positioned seating in the rear, to accommodate for the best viewing. Blankets or chairs should not be placed on the lawn area prior to 10 a.m. the day of the movie.

Fun activities such as contests, games, and sing-alongs are scheduled during the waiting period just prior to the film showing.

Thursday night’s show is the fourth installment of the Spider-Man superhero film series and tells the story of high-school student Peter Parker, who transforms himself into Spider-Man after being bitten by a spider.

The free Movies in the Park season wraps up with another superhero film, “The Avengers,” Aug. 15. The film is based upon the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name and features Robert Downey, Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson.
