The city of Pleasanton is working with BART and the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA), operator of the Wheels buses, on a contingency plan in the event of a BART strike that could start at midnight tonight.

Labor negotiations continue, but if an agreement has not been reached, there is a possibility that BART service could be stopped as early as midnight Sunday.

Wheels temporary bus stops have been identified in the event of a strike and can be viewed on the attached map. The Police Department’s Motors/Traffic Division will manage the traffic flow and any impacts resulting from the temporary bus stops.

Should there be a strike, BART plans an alternative commute service referred to as the “bus bridge” that would begin Monday, using six buses at the East Dublin/Pleasanton BART station next to the Hacienda Business Park to take commuters to San Francisco. The buses will park on westbound Owens Drive.

Similar bus bridge service will be available from the stations at Walnut Creek, El Cerrito Del Norte, Fremont and West Oakland.

In the event of a strike, commuters may park in the BART station parking lots to carpool, with no fee during a work stoppage, but elevator access is not guaranteed in the parking structures.
