Work will continue today to complete major safety upgrades of Union Pacific Railroad tracks at the St. Mary Street crossing, which will be closed until late afternoon when the project is scheduled for completion.
The reconstruction work will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue through approximately 5 p.m. while the rail crossing is removed and rebuilt. All vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the crossing will be barred during the construction activity.
Construction on the tracks will begin after the last morning Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) train passes through the crossing and the tracks will be re-installed in advance of the afternoon ACE train schedule. The ACE train schedule should not be affected by the construction.
Concrete barriers are being installed on both sides of the tracks to ensure that motorists do not attempt to cross.
For additional information, contact City Engineer Steve Kirkpatrick at (925) 931-8209.

It’s too bad the track crossing on Angela was smoother BEFORE the work then now. Hope they fix this problem.
Stella is right it was smoother before the work, now it’s like going over a speed bump. Hopefully, the work on Rose will be better than Angela.
YEP the one on Rose is very very smooth. and Angela being the busier street I believe since the ACE train lot is right there is a major speed bump-which I guess that’s fine since the speeders are the ACE train riders getting to the lot at the last minute or when leaving they try to beat the train to the crossing. I can already see accidents happening at this crossing now.
PLEASE fix the crossing on w. Angela. I agree with the other two-it was much smoother before then now.
