Cal Fire crews stopped forward progress on a vegetation fire in Alameda County in between Tracy and Livermore on Sunday after it grew to about 22 acres.
The fire broke out at about 12:20 p.m., roughly a mile west of Altamont Speedway, near Interstate 580 and Grant Line Road, according to Cal Fire.
Air support and fire crews from the Alameda County Fire Department, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and San Joaquin County South County Fire Authority helped stop the fire’s forward spread by about 1:15 p.m. Cal Fire’s Santa Clara Unit (SCU) led the response.
In an update at about 1:45 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire – which the fire agency referred to as the Grant Fire – had grown to about 19 acres. By 2:30 p.m., Cal Fire amended the size to 22 acres.
The cause remains under investigation.
