Three young men were arrested Tuesday afternoon in an apparent attempted residential burglary in the area of Blacow Street and Valley Avenue.
Officers initially responded to a citizen’s report of a suspicious looking black Chrysler 300 sedan whose occupants were getting out, knocking on doors and appeared to be “casing” the area. Police observed the vehicle at the end of Blacow Court, solely occupied by a man on a cell phone who was attempting to conceal himself by lying down in the driver’s seat.
Approximately one minute after contact, police dispatchers received several 911 calls reporting two men vaulting fences and running through yards in the same area; a contractor spotted the men fleeing a yard on Hall Court while another officer saw them running eastbound on Valley Avenue. Both were stopped and detained by Pleasanton police.
As officers questioned the driver and two men, a third officer checked the back yard of a home on Blacow Street and saw several indications of forced entry attempts. The yard backs up to the rear of the Hall Court home from which the two suspects fled, and witnesses placed all three subjects in the sedan.
Police seized Keandre Valentine, 18, and Torin Armbrust and Kenneth Joseph Jr., both of Oakland and both 20, on charges of burglary and booked then into Santa Rita jail. No additional homes appeared to have been entered and police are unsure whether any property was actually taken.
In other police reports:
* A 21-year-old Pleasanton resident was arrested Aug. 29 after allegedly making threats to a Wells Fargo Bank teller.
Benjamin Horton, a customer of the Wells Fargo inside Safeway on Santa Rita Road, became upset at a bank overdraft fee, according to police reports. He told the teller he had an explosive device and would “blow everyone up,” then left the store, police said.
Horton had arrived at the bank at 1:30 p.m., though the incident was not reported until about 3:30 p.m., according to reports. At that time, police did an area check and found Horton still outside in the vicinity of the bank. He did not have explosives, police said.
He was arrested on charges of making threats to commit crimes resulting in death or great bodily injury and was booked in Santa Rita Jail.
* Three men were arrested Sept. 1 after a resident called Pleasanton police about an auto burglary. The witness gave a description of the suspects’ vehicle, a late-model black BMW, at the CVS drug store on Rosewood Drive.
An officer spotted the vehicle and followed it from Santa Rita Road onto westbound I-580, then pulled the car over on Dougherty Road at Dublin Boulevard. The men inside matched the description that the witness at CVS gave.
Antelope resident Reginald Elmore, 23, and San Francisco residents Adrian Gordon 24, and Kevin Lamar Lewis Jr., 22, were arrested on charges of possession of property reported stolen, including an iPod Touch. All three were booked in Santa Rita Jail.
Under the law, those arrested are considered innocent until convicted.

Good job by alert citizens and responding officers!! As a former deputy sheriff, I can tell you that the crooks do talk in jail about where it is easy to get away with crime — and where it is not.
If the rest of Pleasanton reacts as these neighbors did, most crooks will choose other places to “work.”
My bicycle was stolen from my open garage in a span of about 10 minutes. Wednesday September 5th at 4:45. We files a report with the Pleasanton PD and they informed us of a rash of these types of thefts in Pleasanton and Livermore.
Mark, arm yourself and shoot to kill. A home security system with cameras may also help deter the opportunist monkeys coming in from outside the city to pilfer from our homes.
Be sure to arm yourselves. Keep multiple guns in each room. That way, when the theives enter and ransack your home, you’ll have given them a nice stash of armaments to help further advance their careers.
Does the city have a fund to compensate individuals who deal with the daily stress of not knowing whether they will be faced with potentially life-threatening situations, even after they retire?
Mike
Yes, we are truly a city beseiged by ‘opportunistic monkeys’ (ha-ha-ha, get it?) and all of us are faced with life-threatening situations. The only thing needing to be added is that the monkeys who are beseiging the city are from Oakland (and that, in addition to driving a predictably undependable Chrysler, their fallback option was obviously BART).
The PPD is EXCELLENT! VIVA LA POLICIA! VIVA!
Yes, it’s bad enough that the perps allegedly burgled a house. But making all kinds of racket in their escape efforts should earn them at least another 40 years in prison.
Ah, Mitzi. Or should I say CASANOVA FRANKENSTEIN????? Well done, both on this and the ‘abortion’ post! Had me goin’ I must say.
You’re on a roll lately. I found your comments on the fascist jimfo’s godline to politics thread to be extremely prescient and entertaining at the same time.
You’ve got some imagination!
I would like this please removed from your website, it is bad for my reputation and the facts are not accurately construed.
I was impressed by the quick response and thorough job the Pleasanton Police Dept. provided re: the Blacow burglary attempt.
The thugs in question ran thru my backyard as they were fleeing the Blacow residence (running into my wrought-iron pool gate and making all kinds of racket along the way). They didn’t get very far at all before the police apprehended them.
I am very thankful for the Pleasanton Police Department and their concern for our safety.
Mr. Horton,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
What we wrote was based on the police report. Here is the summary the police department submitted to the court:
“Ben Horton entered the Wells Fargo Bank located inside of the Safeway on Santa Rita Rd. in Pleasanton, Ca. Horton created a disturbance over a bank fee his checking account was assessed. Horton refused to calm down and threatened the bank employees that he had an IED explosive device in his hand and that he would blow up
the bank. The bank employees saw Horton holding a small round cylindrical object in his right hand with a button on the top
of it. Due to his behavior, the unknown object his his hand along with his threats, the bank employees believed Horton’s
threats to be credible and caused them fear for their lives’.”
The report goes on to say that you were found outside Safeway hours later.
According to court records, the three charges of criminal threats were dismissed and you pleaded guilty to one count of malicious informing of false bomb, which is legalese for saying making a bomb threat.
Is that correct?
