Amid growing criticism from some Democrats that she was sticking her nose where it didn’t belong, 18th District Republican Assembly candidate Jill Buck decided not to attend a Democratic festival in Hayward Sept. 10. Buck, a Pleasanton resident, said she was invited to the Hayward Demos Democratic Club’s 33rd Annual Fall Festival by event host and Alameda County Supervisor Gail Steele.
Buck said her Democratic opponent, public health advocate Mary Hayashi of Castro Valley, would have backed out of the event as an auctioneer if Buck attended.
