At groundbreaking of Pleasantonís first segment of the Iron House Trail Wednesday, Pleasanton Mayor Jennifer Hosterman (second from left) joins others in preparing for the symbolic first shovelful of dirt to officially launch the project. The trail, which now extends from the Dublin-Pleasanton BART station north to Martinez, will stretch in this first Pleasanton segment from Santa Rita Road to the intersection of Valley Avenue and Busch Road. The $2 million in funding was provided by a partnership among the city of Pleasanton, East Bay Regional Parks, Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA) and Ponderosa Homes. Work is scheduled to begin this spring, with plans being considered to build another segment through Hacienda Business Park to the BART station link.
