Parents with children in a special ed program can attend “There Are No IEP’s in College” 7 p.m., Feb. 28 at Village High School, 4645 Bernal Ave. The workshop will focus on the difference between services received in high school and college, the laws governing these services, eligibility and accommodations that are available in college. PPIE grants

Pleasanton Partnerships in Education is accepting applications for the second cycle of student grants. Students can apply for up to $500 of funding for an extracurricular or co-curricular project. Student applications must be written and developed by a student and sponsored by a teacher. Pleasanton faculty and staff can apply for Education Grants for up to $2,500 to fund classroom activities. The deadline for these applications is April 11. Application packets can be downloaded off the PPIE Web site at www.ppie.org. Students can also receive packets by calling Lydiksen’s PPIE Parent Ambassador Nancy Wiest at 417-8484 or the PPIE office at 846-5620. The deadline is March 14.

Citizens’ Academy signups

The Pleasanton Police Department still accepts applications for the Citizens’ Academy. The Academy, March 9-June 15, meets on Thursdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Pleasanton Police Department.

The program is open to adults who pass a screening process and live or work in Pleasanton. They must be free of any felony convictions and have no misdemeanor arrests within one year of the application. Applications are available at the front counter of the Police Department, 4833 Bernal Ave. or by contacting Sergeant Brian Laurence at 931-5169 or blaurence@ci.pleasanton.ca.us.
