Residents in Pleasanton’s Val Vista neighborhood came together this month to celebrate their longtime mail carrier Kathy Jimenez, who was retiring from the U.S. Postal Service after 34 years – including 30 years with Val Vista on her route.
“She is beloved by all the humans, dogs and cats of our neighborhood,” resident Abby Lourenco told the Weekly on Nov. 15. “She is the most joyful, remarkable person and is a true pillar of our community. Today we threw a party to celebrate her, and the neighborhood turned out!”

Kathy is a one of kind, A great person with always a smile on her face, I understand she will be traveling the US with a new trailer. I wish her well

Kathy carried more than the mail…she was a connector between neighbors. Remembered everyone’s name and their dog’s name. Always smiling, always friendly, she will be missed.
