The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has released the identity of a motorcyclist who died following a crash early Monday morning at the intersection of Airway Boulevard and Isabel Avenue in Livermore.
The decedent was identified as Darin Chuck Ming Chan, a 37-year-old woman from Livermore.
Livermore police responded to the scene of the collision involving Chan and another vehicle just after 4 a.m. Monday (Sept. 22).
In a statement Tuesday evening, the department said preliminary findings suggest that Chan was stopped at the traffic light on westbound Airway Boulevard, preparing to turn right onto northbound Isabel Avenue.
As she began the turn, she lost control of the motorcycle, traveled across Isabel Avenue and struck a vehicle that was slowing for the red light while preparing to turn left. The motorcycle then collided with a concrete barrier. Chan was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 35-year-old man from Modesto was the sole occupant of the other vehicle, LPD officials said. He called 911 immediately and has been cooperating with investigators.
One southbound lane of Isabel Avenue near Interstate 580 was closed Monday for approximately four hours for the investigation and roadway cleanup.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact LPD’s Traffic Unit at 925-371-4850.
