The Alameda County firefighters union started a GoFundMe account for one of its members who was seriously injured during a wildfire containment earlier this month.

According to the GoFundMe page, Brandon Franco, a 22-year firefighter with the Alameda County Fire Department, suffered burns to multiple parts of his body while battling a fast-moving grass fire on June 1. ACFD previously reported two of its firefighters were injured during the initial response to the Corral Fire between Livermore and Tracy.

“These burns have already required surgery and will most likely require additional procedures. Although Brandon is expected to make a full recovery, this will take time and support from all who surround him,” the page said.

“Brandon needs our support as he undergoes ongoing medical treatment. The funds will be used to cover essential supplies to manage his ranch during his recovery. Your donation will ensure his animals and property are well cared for, allowing him to focus on getting better,” the page added.

As of early Monday morning, the “Support Brandon Franco’s Recovery” account has raised more than $16,000 with a goal of $20,000.
