Dozens of dogs owned Main Street Aug. 6 like it was a runway as they (and plenty of owners, too) joined in for the annual Pooch Parade. Sponsored by the Tri-Valley Guide Dog Puppy Raisers, the annual event that takes place during the First Wednesday Street Party also features contests awarding the best in a variety of categories.
With 169 entrants, the parade and contests helped TVGDPR raise just over $2,700. Funds go to help the all-volunteer organization offset expenses puppy raisers encounter. Currently, raisers only pay veterinarian costs, with the rest picked up by the group. Money raised also goes to buying new crates, dog food and socialization outings.
