Prosecutors in Contra Costa County have charged a Delta Airlines co-pilot arrested this weekend with 24 felonies associated with the alleged sex abuse of a minor, the District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.

34-year-old Rustom Bhagwagar was arrested Saturday after his plane landed at San Francisco International Airport, authorities said Monday. He is currently being held in jail in Martinez on a $15 million bond, prosecutors said.

The DA is charging him for allegedly engaging in a sex act with a child under ten, oral copulation with a child, forcible lewd acts upon a child and the aggravated sexual assault of a child.

The District Attorney’s Office has also charged another woman in the case, Jennifer Powell, 45, on what prosecutors are describing as a “related felony”.

On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office said its detectives have been investigating Bhagwagar since April, after receiving a report of sex crimes against a child. They obtained a Ramey warrant for his arrest and learned he was going to fly into SFO on Saturday.

Bhagwagar’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday in Martinez. Bhagwagar has prior residential ties to San Ramon, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
