Beep! Beep!

A lineup of vehicles are set to coast down First Street this Sunday in Livermore as part of an annual car show benefiting local organizations.

Hosted by Altamont Cruisers, the 36th annual Nostalgia Day Car Show is expected to feature over 800 vehicles of any kind – new school muscle cars, old school street rods, customs and classics. The public event will also feature music and food.

“The highlight of the show is our annual Parade of Champions, where the award-winners drive their vehicles down First Street to receive their award,” Altamont Cruisers officials told the Weekly. “You might see literally anything come down First Street”.

Over the course of the Altamont Cruisers’ annual car shows, the club has raised nearly $1 million to support local charities and youth organizations, particularly those that help youth avoid drugs and alcohol and promote safety, club officials said.

After the event, Altamont Cruisers will select this year’s recipients of proceeds. Officials expect the recipient list to be similar to that of last year, which featured over 20 groups including the Livermore Police Department, Dublin Police Services Crime Prevention Unit and Pleasanton Police Officers Association.

Per tradition, the Altamont Cruisers is also hosting a blanket and coat drive Sept. 28 dubbed “Operation Anti-freeze.” In exchange for the item — which may be used, but must be clean — attendees will be rewarded with a free raffle ticket. Donated items will be given to people who are houseless.

“We look forward to seeing many familiar faces and cars plus some new ones too,” Altamont Cruisers officials wrote on the club website.

The Nostalgia Day Car Show is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vehicle registration is closed but the event remains open to spectators. For more information, visit the Altamont Cruisers website at altamontcruisers.org.
