Cone with a Cop

The Pleasanton Police Department and Meadowlark Dairy are collaborating again for the annual Cone with a Cop next week downtown.

“This family-friendly event offers a great opportunity to meet and chat with members of the Pleasanton Police Department, learn more about community safety, and enjoy a free ice cream cone courtesy of Meadowlark Dairy,” city officials said. “Last year, over 2,000 cones were served, and we’re excited to keep the tradition going!”

The event is set for 2-4 p.m. Wednesday (May 28) at the ice cream store at 57 W. Neal St.

The Wave opening for summer

Memorial Day marks the start of the season for The Wave Waterpark, operated by the city of Dublin. 

Opening day on Monday (May 26) will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Then the waterpark will be open next weekend (May 31 and June 1) before reopening daily for the summer June 7 to Aug. 8. The park will continue on weekends from Aug. 9 through Labor Day before closing for the year. Learn more at thedublinwave.com.

Memorial Day in Pleasanton

Pleasanton community leaders, military veteran organizations and residents are set to join for the annual Memorial Day ceremony on Monday morning (May 26) at the Pleasanton Senior Center on Sunol Boulevard. 

The Pleasanton Community Concert Band will be performing patriotic music starting at 10:30 a.m., and the ceremony program is set to begin at 11 a.m. and last about an hour.

LCAC recruitment

Pleasanton Unified School District is seeking members for two-year positions on its Local Control Advisory Committee, which advises district leaders on the strategy for spending Local Control Funding Formula revenue.

Available spots include up to seven for parents or guardians of current PUSD students as well as two seats for current secondary students. Appointees “will be selected to reflect the diversity of the school community and the student body”, the district said. 

The application is available online at pleasantonusd.net and is due by 5 p.m. next Friday (May 30) to Kevin Bradley in the educational services division at the district office or by email to kbradley@pleasantonusd.net.

Views in the Valley

There is still time to submit photos of “the stunning beauty of the Tri-Valley’s open spaces, agriculture, wildlife and recreational landscapes” in Tri-Valley Conservancy’s 2025 Views in the Valley competition. 

Open to adults and youth  (grades 6-12), the annual contest offers prizes and bragging rights to local photographers capturing wildlife and nature scenes in  Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon and Sunol.

The deadline is 11:59 p.m. next Friday (May 30). Winners will be announced in July. Go to trivalleyconservancy.org.
